The person who looked after this stuff at our small office left without leaving us any instructions. We have a new computer that needs to connect to our wireless network, but don't know the network key. Nor do we know the login/password to log into the router and get the network key. So how do we reset (or get some other way) the login info and then how do we find out what the network key is? Thanks!

P.S. When I try to enter what I think the password might be, it says "must be 40 or 104 bits... 5 or 13 ascii chars or 10 or 26 hex chars."

Go on the linksys website and look at the router manual for the default router login username and password. Then login to the router and change it. This is if he did not change the default username/password to the router.

If he did change the password then you can reset the whole router, but pressing and holding the button on the back with a pin/pen/pencil/etc. Hold it for like 10 seconds. If you have to set up the internet and don't know how this might be a bad idea if you don't know how to set it up again.

IF YOU RESET, you will lose all settings in the router. I do not know if you have any configurations/port forwarding setup etc. If you do it, it will delete everything and reset it to the way it came from the box. So you will have to re-set it up again. Then login using the default password and set your wireless password, etc.

Edit: Here is the router page Link

From the manual .pdf on the website:

To access the web-based utility, launch Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and enter the Router?s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then press Enter.
A password request page will appear. (Non-Windows XP users will see a similar screen.) Enter admin (the default user name) in the User Name field, and enter admin (the default password) in the Password field. Then click the OK button.

If 192.168.1.1 does not take you to a webpage, then he also changed the router's IP address. You can find out the router's IP by going to start run and type cmd then type ipconfig. It will list all of the network cards in your computer. Find the wireless one. It will tell you the IP, and other stuff. Find the part that says Default Gateway. That is the router's IP. Type it into Firefox/Internet Explorer. Other method is to go to the wireless connection's status and go to the advanced tab.
