WRT54GX4 and BF2

Ok..I just got the Linksys WRT54GX4 router today. Hooked it up and everything works great. Only problem is when I go to play BF2 and I go to the Join Internet screen and the list of servers comes up, but I noticed as it's generating the list it pauses for a few seconds and then goes, then pauses, then goes.....etc. Is this normal? It never did this before I installed the router. It used to be continually generating with no pauses.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

its just that trusty firewall kickin' in. in the long run, you're safer than a non-router solutino

You'll probably have to open some ports. I had to do this on my WRT54GX2 for Steam to work normally.

How do I know what port that BF2 uses and how to open it?

you should only have to open ports if you are creating a server, though.

I had to forward ports for Steam to work properly or else the router would see the incoming requests coming in a DOS attacks and drop them.
It was causing lag spikes whenever I played.

Thanks for the tip guys I too noticed some hesitation problems while playing Unreal Tournament 2004, but once I turned off the firewall in my WRT54GX4 router then I was as good as gold!!!
