WRT54GC Why ?

Came across this today and just wondered why? Who really needs a router this small? Now I don't want a huge sucker but the routers now arent bad, modems are still a certain size so youve got a fatty modem then a tiny router. Why not start working on a standard that allows you to connect the two together? I hate having the mess of networking crap on my desk, they never sit right, the coax is a bitch to work with and the number of patch cables and power cables is just annoying. So... why not work on getting all companies to setup some standard on connecting them together? Linksys devices connect to Linksys devices with their post feet... something like that?

Or heck, why not focus more on stability over longer distances? They have the SRX model, why not focus more on that technology?

I think it's pretty cool. It's not for everyone, as stated in the review. But it does fill it's own niche.

some people, even dumber than I, would buy that thinking they were getting the wrt54gx, or they just want an AWESOME looking router

I see a heatsink, and no visible means of getting the heat out. I bet that thing gets toasty warm:)
