WRT54G with DD-WRT won't work as wireless bridge

I've spent about 6 hours today screwing with this and can't seem to get it working. I have a Linksys 1000 series (the new stuff) router hooked up to the modem. I am trying to get my Linksys DD-WRT based WRT54G to bridge the connection so I don't need 4 wireless cards at the WRT54G end of the wireless link. I followed the DD-WRT wiki install guide (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Bridge). It doesn't connect. I'm on v24 DDWRT as well. Any ideas would be appreciated.
