WRT54G vs. WRT54GS

I have both of these routers. I recently switched from the WRT54G to the WRT54GS because I figured the speedbooster might actually do something. But it has been a bit of a pain to get all the computers back on the network. For some reason, I can't get more than 2 computers on the wireless when I am using WPA2, but if I go down to WPA it works fine.

My WRT54G was working fine with all four computers on WPA2, so my question is, does the WRT54GS do anything better than the WRT54G? Does the speedbooster actually do anything or is that just marketing BS? If I stay on the WRT54GS at WPA, am I taking unecessory risks by not staying at WPA2?

Under equal circumstances while using the Speed Booster matching client card, the GS might yield 30% to 50% more Bandwidth than the plain G.
