wrt54g versions revisited

i went out and purchased a wrt54g that happened to be a v.2.

what i really need it to do is have good QoS abilities because i've swapped to Lingo's VoIP services.

currently, what's the view on the most stable and best firmware, particularly for QoS? from the posts i've read, QoS seems to be a feature that's lacking in quality.

also, how do the newer v.4 routers compare? have they been released yet? at bestbuy i saw the some packages that have a different description. they say they are able to do WPA2. am i correct to assume these are the v.4 models? from what i've read, they are much more beefy when it comes to encryption.

how does the v.4 hardware for the switching compare to the features of the v.2 models?

ack... first of all, alchemy isn't impressing me too much. it is having serious issues with acquiring a WAN address via DHCP. next, this thing is turning in to a mess.

the lingo box won't work unless it's put before the router, and as a result, it's halved my download capacity, which is freaking me out.

are there any particular ports i need to open on my linksys routers to allow VoIP to work?
