WRT54G v5 client mode

I'm trying to set up client mode with a WRT54G and I downloaded the firmware according to the following thread (I've tried the final alchemy and 6rc5)

The firmware fails when I try to upgrade it (ie it doesn't work). I have a WRT54G v5. Is there a firmware that is compatable with this router?

I'm sorry, but no luck.
All of the versions prior to v5 are linux.
The v5 is a bastardized thing, running vxware, and cannot be flashed to the custom firmwares. Not possible.
I have an rma with linksys for three of them. they will replace them with v4, because I need a static wan IP and the v5 drops the settings after a reboot.
