Ok I'm trying to load a 3rd party firmware that supports client mode on my WRT54G v4.

I have tried 6rc5, Alchemy final and freeman basic v1.0.4 None of them have worked. The freeman basic seemed to almost upload then I got a "upgrade are failed" message.

Does anyone have a link and know what 3rd party firmware I can use to setup a client mode on the WRT54G v4

Thank you in advance

the v4 has half the ram that the previous models had. The only firmware that works initially is a mini version from dd-wrt.
After you flash the mini or lite firmware, you can put most any other on there.

You're thinking of WRT54G v5 which switches to Vxware OS as well.

Go here and download the file "dd-wrt.v23_mini_generic.bin". Use that image file to upgrade your default Linksys firmware. After that you may upgrade to any version you want. If you want to use the webinterface to do the firmware upgrade, make sure you get the generic version.

Thank you guys I got the wireless bridge working.

Another question: I have router B bridged to router A I have PC2 wired to router B. Can I connect wirelessly to router B or does it not repeat the signal, if so would I need a different firmware than the DD-WRT?

Looks like I have to connect a router C to router B to rebroadcast an expanded wireless network in my house.

I'm having trouble connecting router C to B I'm using a static IP setting on my Dlink DI 624 I set the WAN IP to 192.168.1.140 same as the start LAN of router B I'm not sure what to set the subnet mask, gateway and Primary DNS of router C.

Thanks for everyones help again.
