Fry's sells a lot of refurb wireless network gear, mostly Netgear. The prices are OK, not that hot most of the time, but last weekend, I found some WRT54G v2.2 for $29.99 and WRT54GS v1.1 for $49.99 at the Manhattan Beach store. You can flash these versions with a Linux firmware like OpenWRT, DD-WRT or Tomato.

The price isn't that hot for refurb with a 90 day warranty, but hey, it beats buying used off Ebay or paying $60+ for a WRT54GL.

Good lord, what features do you want? That's what it comes down to. You could browse the openwrt package repository. QoS, mesh routing, asterix, web servers, proxies, usb audio (for routers that HAVE USB, wrt54 doesn't, wrtsl54 does (I'm selling mine ;) )

I have a wrt54gl with openwrt and the 2 biggest features I use is WOL to poke my computers to life from on the road and ssh into it (and through port forwarding) to get to those computers once they're awake. Other than that it's just a wireless/wired router that lets my machines talk to the internet.
