WRT54g slows cable modem response time?

Hello. I had PacBell DSL (PPPoE) and my WRT54g worked great. I got a good deal on Adelphia Cable Modem (DHCP). Well, I switched it over, and my page loads seemed slower, though big downloads were faster. So I wrote a little program to reload a page over and over to check the speed, and it was slower, than my DSL. So I put the cable modem directly into my PC and its faster. The web page loads like 30% faster if it goes straight to my PC instead of going through the router. So I tried the test on my DSL, going direct to computer and through the router, and there is no real difference. I tried Sveasoft and Linksys firmware and that made no difference. Any explanation for this?

The wireless router is receiving RF interference. Go to dslreports.com and do a speed test (under tools section), do a speed test and move your router to numerous places as far as you can stretch the power cord, etc. If my theory is right you'll see varying speeds getting faster as you move away from your new cable modem or monitor, whatever is causing the RF interference.
