WRT54G Momentary Lag

The Linksys WRT54G has worked very effectively to network our entire house except for this one snag. I have noticed that while playing games (such as Counter-Strike or Call of Duty) online, I occasionally hit a period where it's almost as if my internet connection is cut. The lag is absolutely unbearable for about 5-6 seconds, and then it returns to normal. This is occuring on one of the computers that is wired directly into the router. I've tried updating the firmware to the most current but that failed to fix the problem. Please note that it is not the internet connection as I've hooked up my old netgear wired router and had no problems at all. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a cordless phone nearby? Ive noticed that a 2.4 phone will even affect my wired signal if I have the wireless network going at the same time.

nope, only one cordless in the house and that's a level lower than the router plus i'm hard wired into the router

Wow that is almost the same problem I am having. Except when I even try to join a CS:S server the latency of the server jumps from lets say 80 to 2000. I also have a netgear router and I am using msn.
