I have a wired and wireless connection to a wrt54g v2.0, but the router will fail to respond to internet request after a few days of normal operation. It tends to fail sooner if the router has a lot of internet traffic such as torrent.

I tried update the firmware to the latest linksys firmware and also tried alternatives like openWRT, but none of them seem to resolve the problem, any ideas ATers?

Thanks for your help

WRT54G is known for crashing under torrent loads. I had one, and was using it in my apt with 3 other guys, 3 people use torrents heavily and it was not uncommon to bring down the router every couple of days. This wasn't a problem when I was alone in the apt over the summer and didn't torrent. Once I did torrent (even 1 person) it would crash more often. I ended up trying some other firmwares. HyperWRT, and Alchemey something or other. Both were fine for non-torrent use. Added a lot of extra functionality (QoS still didn't really work)

I ended up giving that router to my parents when theirs died, I now use an old computer and it runs Smoothwall and hasn't crashed in months, no matter how much torrenting we do.
