Ok, I have read through user1234's setup and have gotten it to work... Mostly.
I can use the internet from the client side and see all PC's on the router side via a pc on the client side. The down side is I have no access to the machines on the client side when using a PC on the router side. Also, the machine on the client side will NOT work when it is set to a static IP. Only if DHCP is turned on the client, and the client assigns the address.
My setup is as follows:
Router WRT54G (Linksys 4.20.7)
|||_IBM Laptop ~ Wireless to Router
||_Dell Laptop ~ Wireless to Router
|SN45G ~ Wired to Router
Client WRT54G (Alchemy 6rc5) ~ Wireless to Router
|_Media Machine ~ Wired to Client
I need to control my media machine from the other systems since it's just a dumb box with no mouse/KB/monitor but with the current confog, I can't access that sytem at all from the Router side. Is there a firmware or mode that I can setup to have my main router do all the DHCP and routing duty so all machines are on the same subnet and accessible easily. (My wife will need to use Remote Desktop to control it also so it MUST be easy!)
Also, Is there a way to make the Client accept wireless connections? That way I have both AP's accepting connections and can cover a larger area while on my laptop.
I believe I need WDS to do this but I'm uncertain of all the modes and different firmware settings. Especially since alot of the aftermarket ones have little to no description of the settings and what they mean/do. (Unless you have a PHD in linux.) I'd also prefer to do this in a web GUI, I'm not much for command line stuff. I want easy.
