Guess he shouldn't have tried escaping so many times!

Sucks for sure though. I hope that sherrif+deputies ALL get some nice prison time. Can't imagine the other prisoners would treat them so well, either...

Then again its been 40 years!!....most are probably dead.

Correct. A guilty person can be let free due to a wrongful conviction. However, as I don't know the case, I won't assume he is guilty or innocent.
