Wrongful parking ticket, how to contest?

Got a parking ticket in the mail a few weeks ago. The license plate was correct, but vehicle color was wrong (way wrong... they said black and my car is white). I assume they got my address from the license plate info.

Plus, the ticket issuance location is about 400 miles away (LA, I live in SF). The car was not down there on the date of the ticket.

I contested via phone... they said they'd "investigate." Just got a notice that they "investigated" and still think it's me.

I can contest, but that involves going down to LA. Give me a break. It's a $35 ticket, but it's the principle that I'm stuck up on. It's not my ticket to pay!

Any help?

same thing happened to my sister a little while ago, she called the responsible dept. up and explained to them and they asked her to fax her title, registration etc stating the color and make of her car was totally not the right one, and she didn't have to pay. so is the make of the car wrong also? color alone might not be enough... but if you are such craplucked you mind as well paid up, who knows what worse things might happen if you don't with such bad luck... =) good luck

I had photo evidence and witnesses, but the judge I wrote a letter to ignored that AND they charged me a "processing fee". Get ready for a long battle...
