wrong voltage disaster

hi, I just moved to london from the states and managed to break my computer instantly. I plugged in my dell thinking my power supply was variable voltage (like my ps2), but not realizing I had to set the voltage manually. needless to say, my computer is now not working and my question is: is my power supply all that should be dead, or is there a good chance other things have been fried as well? i'm happy to replace things as necessary but I have no idea what could be toast

oh, and by the way, I didn't actually power on the computer... just plugged it into the wall and my speakers (in another socket) shut off and my pooter was dead

Hi, Welcome to London.

You will have to switch to a new psu to check - don't think there is a way of knowing till you do that.

If your psu switch (0 or 1 on the psu) was on 1, then there is a chance that something may have happened to other components.
In general though, with QUALITY psu, the psu would take the bullet.
Important lesson - Quality psu's don't just supply steady power, they also act as an internal fuse.
