equalize your MP3's?

I've got about 100 MP3's on this disk that I regularly take to work, but I constantly have to change the volume because they are all at different levels. Is there a program (preferably cheap or free) that can equalize all my MP3's so I don't have to tweak my knob for every other song?

 
The only programs I've found (download.com, etc) first decompress to wav, then normalize, then re-encode, which sucks. I too would like to know of any GOOD software
