Writing to DVD in windows XP

OK,this is bugging me like crazy.

I want to backup my HDD's to DVD and it won't allow me to drag/copy n paste my dirs/files to my DVD rewriter,keeps telling me there is no disk in the drive.I can use Nero to burn them ok but that's not really the point here lol.Same thing with my CD rewriter.

I was told to install the ASPI drivers which I've done and no joy.I went into properties for the drives and altered the settings to enable writing,that did nothing.

Why is it that Nero can write to my drives but I can't?

I know this is a question that makes me look like a noob but ,hey,if the cap fits 😀
 
Install the InCD portion of Nero if you haven't already done so. I can't say as I've tried packet writing to DVD RW myself, so maybe we will both be taking turns wearing the no0b hat. 😀
