Writing numbers in a research paper.

Ask your teacher what they want. I followed the standard accepted rules for writing numbers and got docked points because he wanted it all in numerical format, not written out.

spell out numbers ten and under. anything 11 and over just get numbers.

that got me through college without a problem. presumably, the teacher will inform you if she/he wants numbers entered in a specific way.

also, if any number in the sentence has a value 11 or higher, do them all with numbers...

"i added 7 units of solution X to 50 units of solution Y"

Dude, always write it out -- it increases your word count and makes the paper look longer.
