Writing a book?

Has anyone attempted to Write a book before?

I just want to try and see what I can come up with. Some girl in my school wrote a book about helping kids in India. (Shes some kind of rich person who will probably get 30 major awards by the end of her lifetime) She hasn't gotten it Published yet.

I just feel like writing a book on which I talk about the world today, religion , and ideas. Probably just a hundred pages of ranting. Has anyone tried this before?

lol, a book of you ranitng about the world? who are you exactly? what are your credentials or background?

just some random dude ranting will have a very small chance of getting published (inless you publish it yourself).

my suggestion? start a blog

Yeah, it's easy, plenty of people do what you're suggestion. We call them bloggers, and we hate them.

Sorry, my typing skills were never too good. My keyboard is unresponsive as hell too.

Yea, I really have no excuse, but try to be forgiving...

I'm still waiting for you to give me an aswer about your credentials or at least why anyone would care about your opinion.

I admit, I have no credentials. But its just for fun. It's not like I'm trying to win an award.

High school? I'd wait before writing a book if I were you, such ranting is only funny coming from someone who has experienced a lot of life.

Yeah.

I'm not trying to be funny with my ranting. I'm actually trying to write a serious book about what I think the world has come to. I've studied lot about these types of things. My friends and I read tons of Foucault, Nietzsche, Kappler, and other various topics of literature. They are also seeing if they can get any ideas for a serious discussion of the world.

OP, your book will likely suck, but that's no reason not to write it. Few people create anything of value in high school, but it's a fine place to get started. If you graduate from college and still can't write or type, it may be time to call it quits.

write and try to get a literature/english teacher as a mentor. They can guide you and help you develop your skillset. If after several months, it just doesnt work, well there you have it.

I'm going to give you some serious advice, even though you're just another idealistic young punk and there are thousands of others like you and no matter how great you think your opinions are, you will realize in five years that you are a dumbass today.

With that said...

If you would like to write a book about a serious topic, it is going to take years. Think ten or more. First you're going to have to go to college. Then you're going to have to go to Graduate School and get your PhD. In your case, you would probably get it in History, Philosophy, Political Science, or some other social study.

So now you've got your PhD. Now you're going to have to find a specific topic you are passionate about. Let's say you've got your PhD in Anthropology and have a particular interest in the Hmong tribe of Southeast Asia. So you go there and you research and all that fun stuff and you do the whole process for proposing and writing your book.

Until you've done these steps, nobody will give a crap about what you have to say about anything. And nobody should. Because like I said in the beginning, there are a million other punks out there just like you and nobody has the time to read all of your opinions.

Yeah. I know that nobody cares. I admit, ideas are good, but nothing ever happens when you write them. But then again, I really don't care what people think about me or my ideas. Writing it is the fun part.

Unless you can express human emotion and experience in a way that no one has until this point and find a fast track to publicity and potential notoriety, you'll have to take the long way.
