Millionaire rescues unwanted dog

In Kansas, Lady escaped one family's home and walked 30 miles back to a former family that didn't want her. That's when Helen Rich, an heiress to the Wrigley chewing gum company, heard the story.

Rich was devastated when she heard that Lady was rejected, and she couldn't stand the thought of Lady being sent to the shelter again. She decided to adopt her -- even sending along an assistant and a private jet because she was in Hawaii.

Now, Lady lives in a 15,000 square foot mansion with rich and her other dogs. They've got plenty of land to enjoy and Rich is happy to have a new furry pal.

This story is really great considering all of man's inhumanity to both man and animal making the news daily.

It's a nice story... but why does this deserve to be a story? Because no one expects a billionaire family to do this? Lots of people do stuff like this. Sadly, there's far more abandoned pets then there are homes.

It made news because in modern America, we are taught to believe wealth is evil, and only evil people have it. Evil people dont care about other living things (dogs) so this is apparently a big deal that someone adopted a new pet.

So adopting a dog cleanses you of all your sins? Someone better put a call into death row...

In other words: a lot of people are mind-numbingly, sub-childlike, dumb as rocks.
