i am looking to buy a used starter, and its not on a vehichle. how do i identify what vehichles it works on? serial number look up site would be great, but i cant seem to word the search right.

look up the part on autozone or some other parts reseller, take the part no. google it and see what comes up it should tell you about fitment.

alternatively you can try hollander its a book used part dealers use to find suitable replacements for different years of cars.
