Yeah, that's pretty fake. The wrecking ball hits the car and it suddenly stops dead but the car goes flying.

lol why is it every video posted people have to say it's fake?

I highly doubt people sit there editing videos frame by frame... It's hard to tell how and why it happened based on that short clip though. Almost looks like the ball was held somewhere and accidentally let go. I'm pretty sure if the ball was suppose to be let go there would of been a good clearance radius to not allow traffic around. I would expect the ball to go further though but maybe the van was full of fat people so it kinda acted like a newton's cradle.

I dont think its fake. I think its a movie stunt. It appears right at the beggining that the van takes off from a standstill chirping its tires.

I agree with this 100%. The first thing that came to my mind was movie stunt. Whoever shot this probably saw the scene being set and whipped out his camera to record what he anticipated was going to happen.

For the car to bounce and go flying off like that while leaving the ball stationary the car would need to be of a similar mass and react elasticly (bounce, not crush). The car would be drastically outweighed and it crushed. In that case the car and wrecking ball should have both continued on in the same direction.

. . . maybe the van was full of fat people. . .
?

It does look like a set-up for a film though, maybe the ball was less massive than a real one.

Either fake or a setup. If that really happened, you would think you could find a news article about such a horrible accident happening.

If that's a 3 foot diameter ball (looks bigger), then it's only about 7000 pounds - outweighs the van by about 1000 pounds. If that ball has a 4 foot diameter, then it outweighs the car by over 10,000 pounds. (just under 16,500 pounds total)

Thus, the physics seem wrong, particularly conservation of momentum. (Assuming a ball larger than 3 foot diameter, which it appears to me.)

Also it makes a wussy ass sound. If it actually weighed a lot that ball would just keep on going.

I can put a sledge hammer through a concrete wall. I cannot put a sledgehammer through the side of a vehicle.

I'm not saying the wrecking ball is going to punch a hole through the van, it's just going to hit it and keep on going like if you were driving a car and hit something significantly smaller. The car will barely slow down.

Smart car hit one of their cars with a 1 ton wrecking ball as a publicity stunt. Here's the video.

If that wrecking ball for the smart car weighed one ton how many tons do you think that ball in the OP's link would have to be based on size?
