WQHD >=100Hz Freesync

Hey,

I've been hanging out for a high refresh WQHD (3440x1440) Freesync monitor for ages and I thought the Sammy CF791 (C34F791) was going to be my savior. Then I discovered the actual Freesync range was 80-100Hz, and the selectable the "ultimate" range (48-100Hz, needed for LFC) caused flickering in "some" (read "most") games. Useless.

Then I found another beauty up for pre-order in my local store, the Asus MX34VQ, and down the bottom of the specs list I noticed "3)Adaptive Sync support range from 48Hz-100Hz". Needless to say I pulled the trigger. But even then I noticed there was zero reference to "Freesync", and absolutely minimal reference to "Adaptive Sync" at all. Now it appears even that reference on the official site is gone (tho google still has a cached search result from ASUS Canada).

Is my search doomed to continue? What other options are out or on the horizon?

Cheers

Yes I've been jelly of those Acers for a while now. And whilst I'm certain I would be happy with 75Hz I also have an internal block telling me to get 100Hz so I'd be less jelly once they got up to 144Hz. Right?

I'm an Aussie so I suspect our refurb market is much smaller, but I have no problem buying from them. Also being an Aussie means I'm going to take full advantage of Australian consumer law which states (amoungst other things) products must be "free from defects". Meaning whatever dead pixel policy a company invents is meaningless, I shall keep returning my monitor until it's perfect; so I gotta buy locally 😉

Edit: And I have pre-ordered the Asus (no eta, but I've heard 16 Feb), so of course I'll come back and report anything interesting I find.

Interesting haven't seen that Asus before. Let us know if it does have freesync if you buy it!

There is a korean one: https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...z-34-3440x1440-100hz-freesync-curved.2492440/

FYI--the unreleased Asus MX34VQ in the OP seems to be the same VA Samsung panel is in that Microboard. But yeah--looking at the Asus page, no listing of Freesync, unlike with the Microboard. THe Microboard seems to be a very good value, great performance panel. I've had my eye on it for a few weeks now...just too chicken to pull the trigger (I also won't have the hardware to run it properly for another ~6-9 months. So, I can wait. 😀)
