Woz then moved on to the topic of Android saying that Android smartphones, not the iPhone, would become dominant, noting that the Google OS is likely to win the race similarly to the way that Windows ultimately dominated the PC world. Woz stressed that the iPhone, "Has very few weak points. There aren't any real complaints and problems. In terms of quality, the iPhone is leading." However, he then conceded that, "Android phones have more features," and offer more choice for more people. Eventually, he thinks that Android quality, consistency, and user satisfaction will match iOS.

I don't k now about that, I saw plenty of complaints against the antenna problems in the iP4 and the glitches in iOS 4.x on the 3Gx models. There's a number of Android phones with glitches too, but theres also many that have great hardware and polished software.

Woz is going to get a phone call from His Holiness.

Is this a post looking at how Woz commented on Android being the dominant smart phone platform or a way for you to bash iOS/iPhone?

Nope, just stating the facts. :p

Woz commands a little more respect than some obscure mayor who doesn't know which end of a phone to talk into. :p

If Android doesn't become the dominant OS for mobile devices, they're doing something very wrong.

Free to manufacturers, customizable as they want, on everything from free with contract devices to leading edge devices...

Can't wait till 3.0 and the tablets that run it...

Why is that? He has done nothing of significance since leaving Apple unless you count playing Polo on a Segway as significant. The few things he has done basically amount to him throwing lots of money around.

That being said, I think his point, that Android will win the market share war in the smartphone market, is basically correct. Of course, many people have been saying this since it was announced. That the market would shake out like the PC market. And frankly, I don't think Apple really cares as long as they are making buckets of money which they will no doubt do.

McDonalds sells more burgers than In an Out, that's the gist of what Woz said.

Yeah, exactly. Windows is unquestionably the dominant PC platform, with Mac OS well behind. Doesn't mean Windows is better, it's just more used. And Woz is also saying that Android will eventually roughly equal iOS in terms of quality, which is basically what Windows has done in comparison to Mac OS.

Funny, I made a rant about how in-and-out is the most overrated/overpriced piece of shit a few months ago over at ATOT.

I couldn't agree more. This is a section of the market that is there for the taking. That probably wouldn't be the case if Apple wasn't exclusive to AT&T. I can't help but think they missed out on a bunch of cash by excluding sprint and Verizon.

Yep, and if In-N-Out was a franchise anyone could open they would be killing McDonalds. Android is on every carrier and have 60 different handsets, of course they'll dominate, iPhones are still the single most popular phone though. They just can't compete numbers wise because of availability on different carriers and only offering 2 models at a time.

He says he was mis-quoted:

Some comments attributed to Steve Wozniak caused quite a kerfuffle this morning -- according to Dutch paper De Telegraaf, Woz said that "Android phones have more features," which would help Google's OS become the dominant smartphone platform. Obviously, a statement like that from Apple's co-founder rocketed around the web, and it's set off yet another round of furious Android-vs-iOS debate. There's just one problem, though: Woz never said anything like that. Turns out Woz is an Engadget commenter just like you, and when we saw that he'd left a clarification on the post, we called him up for a quick chat to sort everything out.

Woz says he gave the De Telegraaf reporter a lengthy demonstration of voice commands on iOS and Android, pointed out that Android offered the ability to say "Navigate to Joe's Diner," and suggested that Apple would catch up through its purchases of Siri and Poly9. According to Steve, that's about it -- he says he'd "never" say that Android was better than iOS, and that "Almost every app I have is better on the iPhone." Woz did say he lightly prognosticated that Android would become more popular "based on what I've read," but that he expects Android "to be a lot like Windows... I'm not trying to put Android down, but I'm not suggesting it's better than iOS by any stretch of the imagination. But it can get greater marketshare and still be crappy." He's not shy, that Woz -- listen to him say it all for yourself after the break.

Either that or he really was misquoted. The media is garbage, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Everyone here knows I'm anti-Apple but this is usually the case more often then not. I always liked Woz infinitely more than Jobs though.

LOL, you know nothing about the fast food industry.
Thats the most absurd statement about killing McDonalds.
I love In and Out but they have a limited menu and a niche customer base.
McDonalds has one of the world best known brand name.
Wendys and Burger King have tried for many years to gain ground on McDonalds and have failed.
And let me mention that McDonalds by far blows everyone away when it comes to the breakfast menu.
You think a fast food that only sell mostly burgers can challenge McDonalds ??

Here's what I know, there are plenty of In N Outs in my area, the one I went to the other day had a huge line for both drive thrus and the walk up window had a line to the side walk. The MCDonalds across the street was mostly dead. In N Out constantly gets rated the favorite fast food place in So Cal, McDonalds never does. If In N Out had as many locations as McDonalds would get it's ass handed to it. Any In N Out I go to is packed to hell pretty much from opening to closing, and they all have 2 drive thru windows because they do so much business.

Lets stop the madness right now as you are not qualified to argue with me about the fast food industry.
You based your so called knowledge on In and Outs near your area.
I was GM for McDonalds for many years.

You point out your own fallacy in this statement. Each restaurant is so crowded because there are so few of them. If they were more widespread, do you really think each store would be as crowded? If you answer yes - you're wrong.
