Did you close the session after the first burn?

windows explorer just says finished and kicks the cd out.

i put the cd back in and i can burn to it again. it doesn't really give me the option to close.

Only CD-RWs need to be formatted, what Explorer is doing is just not finalizing the CD, that's all, all burning software allows you to do the same, as long as you don't finalize the cd you can continually add sessions to the CD, and most drives will pick up all the sessions, but some drives dont' like it.

since i've been throwing them away after writing just 3 or 4 mb files to them once i no longer needed them, i'm not really too concerned if i lose a few megabytes writing back to back to them. :)

If you do this, some drives won't read the CD. Some drives will read only the last stuff you burned to the CD. Some will read everything. So it's kind of a crapshoot.

cool, can you surf and do other things on the computer at the same time? Stress the system out see what you can get away with. I know my PC couldn't handle that much IO activity.
