Wowsers!!! Ford pulls the plug on the '06 F-150 SVT Lightning

Good job Ford :| If their plan for Shelby to work on the next SVT Mustang, then SVT really no longer has a real role within Ford. Cut costs elsewhere. :|

i don't undestand performance pickup trucks.

When you can do 0-60 in 5.2 while still carrying 50 10' 2x4's or a boat..then you'll understand.

But, it is a grand compromise. It makes your pickup much less of a payload hauler with tight suspension and low profile tires and it's not nearly as fast as it could be because it big and heavy with most of the weight up front.

I like my 318 dakota, but I wouldn't want to detract from it's ability to carry heavy stuff.

I just cant get excited about anything Mopar produces these days - doesn't matter how much horsepower it has.

Guess that comes from having to drive/fix/sell them every day. Good thing I also do other kinds of cars to keep things interesting.

Show me other cars that do 0-60 in 5.2 that don't have compromises? Most of them have no room, no trunk space..no headroom. Do I need to go on? That doesnt mean a fast pickup truck isn't a fun toy.

BAHAHA I love it, all of the Ford boys kept saying "wait until the '06 comes!! It'll kick the crap out of the SRT-10 for way less. Dodge's reign is short lived!"

Haha BULLSH!T 😀

Go Dodge's PVO!

I guess I've just hauled too many yards of topsoil where my rims were almost on the ground not to appreciate my truck's suspension and put the boot to my Camaro not to appreciate the old saw, "small car, big engine, go fast."

So what? Nobody bought the old LIghtnings, just like nobody's buying the Dodges. You can find all you want sitting at dealerships right now.

Everybody wants the manufacturers to make these beasts, but nobody wants to actually buy one, it seems.

How many of the those 500hp Dodges have you ever seen driving around? Unless you work at a Dodge dealership, I'll bet no more than 1 or 2, max.

I like the fast trucks...hell, I have a drag truck. But I can understand Ford not wanting to start up the Lightnings again...why make something that very few folks are going to buy?
