A computer store has received (probably last week) their first X1800 XT 512 MB copies. But something I find strange ... they have not received the 256 MB version. Hmmmm...

It's located on the island of Montreal (Canada), where I live.

It's price ?

$744.95 Canadian

Which means $631.77 U.S

Taxes not included

Well ... yes, I knew that it would sell more than MSRP ... but, that much ? Man ...

Here's their web-site for you curious peeps out there: www.cipc-info.com (there is an English version, look on the main page for it)

Now I don't know what to do for my second system I was planning to buy (that'd become the "host" system, and the one I currently have would be the client, creating a little, humble network at home, something I wanted to do since the past five years).

Grrr ...

Weren't the 7800 GTXs close to $600 initially, considering that was their MSRP? If so, $630 isn't too bad, considering the extra memory.

But I get your point, wanting to see MSRP at launch.

They need to come in price to be competitive, & they will.

Whether they do soon enough or not is another matter.

The XL's were selling for above MSRP for less than a week. Same thing will happen here. That price will drop quickly.

With taxes, it's $865.00 (round number).

I was expecting a price more within the range of $780.00 to $810.00 ... but it's about 60 bucks more than I expected. And to the point where I am, those bucks are quite important. The system I currently own made a bigger hole in my wallet than I expected as well. Gah ...

Don't make any conclusions yet about what these cards will sell for just based on the price from one store.

Yeah I do hope it'll drop within a week or two.

Because I'm sick to wait for that R520's top of the line. I mean I've been waiting for it since it was first announced.

Yeah I agree M0RPH, but consider the following: That store has the lowest known prices in terms of brand new GPU's on the island of Montreal and its immediate regions as well. It's a well known store here believe me. Similar to say ... Newegg for PC stuff or EBGames for video gaming.

And I don't feel like going to another city just to buy a freakin' PC component. I'm gonna wait for a price drop that's for sure.
