I thought the girl next door would do better (I never had any intention on seeing it, but 6.5 mil is pretty bad).

Looks like every movie out there, save one or maybe two, is horrible

They advertised it that way too - all the ads I ever saw showed ~16-20 year olds getting interviewed about how much they liked the movie when they exited the theater. I kept thinking, "why no adults?!" and "wtf, how are they interviewing random people who just saw their movie, when their movie isn't even out yet - those can't be random people." I realized that they must have felt they really needed to hype it up, given the large amount of advertising they did. I hope it's a flop.

there's nothing to hope for dude, it made crap on its opening weekend

Girl Next Door was one of the better movies so far this year I'd have to say. It wasn't a typical lame teen movie, it had some really hilarious parts in it. And the plot wasn't all that bad.

The people who saw it seem to like it. 7.1 is not bad
Not too sure if I trust those people though. Those are the same people who thought Reqiem For A Dream was better than Smokey And The Bandit. crazy people

most movies worth seeing are released in the May - August summer season, or in the November-December christmas season.
