wow Xbox 360 uses 120W just to charge a controller

eh this cant be right

i have the play n charge kit for my 360, and yeah i know its meant to charge while you play, but if you turn off the 360 and leave the controller plugged in to continue charging my little watt meter thing is telling me its using 120w...and the fans stay on too.

how inefficient is that.

it only uses a couple of watts more to play a friggin game.

The fans stay on? I have one of those as well and I just plug it in to my 360, turned off, and it remains turned off. The little LED comes on the charger to indicate that it's working, but the fans definitely don't go on.

meh... i never charge my controller with the 360, i just plug into my pc instead, since it sits right next ot the 360.

this is from playing with the charger on and then turning off.

the machine does go off, then the red light kicks back on and the fans and cd drive start back up again literally just as theyre spinning down....the disc drive stops soon after though.

if i just plug the kit into my 360 without the 360 being on....nothing happens, no red lihgt or anything.
