Wow what happened at the Asus download site?

Were they hosting their files on an international server before? Maybe they have a server in the states now or something.

And then I realized how much of a geek I am. I was actually excited to check the Asus site 😱
You're a true geek if you get that excited and you don't even have any hardware from Asus! 😀

Their BIOS update utility has never, ever, never, ever, not once, in years and years, worked for me.

EZFlash? Works fine for me.

I have heard various horror stories about bricked boards from people using their Windows BIOS utility (ASUSUpdate or something).

I hate that most of these motherboard manufacturers and hardware companies use international servers (slow ones at that) for their drivers. Especially when it's like a 100MB+ driver, there is no alternate site to download from, and the download rate is like 3KB/s.

It's a flash from windows and I think it is called "ASUSUpdate".

Yeah, I've had good success using EZFlash and a USB thumb drive instead. I don't have an extra board handy in case something goes south with ASUSUpdate and I need to RMA it 😀.

I have a puller for the BIOS chip as I had to do it on an ABIT board one time. Since then, I am a chicken when it comes to updating my BIOS.

This is good news, it was always such a damn chore to download anything from that craptacular site.

lol, I bricked my Gigabyte board by using WinFlash on Vista64. They had no warning on their website that it doesn't work right...lol

Never ever use their Windows BIOS updater unless you want to brick your board.

I've bricked one of mine before.

Likely thousands of other people have done the same, or at least enough have done so that it's well known that using it = bricked boards some of the time.
