Wow, i've had a helluva weekend.
Cliffs at bottom, little bit of a read
Went to Norfolk, Virginia last thursday for my sister's wedding. The weather sucked (hot and humid) but everything else was great. But that isn't why this weekend was hellacious.
On sunday we had tickets to head home, we arrive at the airport at 6am for a 6:50 flight, that particular airport doesn't open very early, small airport. We get to the counter and find out that we are not on the flight list. 45 minutes later we find out that somehow our tickets got changed from August 14th to September 14th. So I spend about 1.5 hours on the phone with Delta trying to find a flight out. We find one in Richmond at 3:35pm. So, we go and grab breakfast, help tear down the tent that we used at the wedding (did I mention it was outdoors starting at 2pm?), and then head off to Richmond, 2 hours later we arrive at the richmond airport at 1pm. We get inside, wait through the long line, and get to the counter. we get our tickets, say goodbyes again and head off to the gate. At security we went through the screening process because of the change of tickets. We get to the gate, get on the plane and after everyone is seated the captain comes on and says, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are currently on Ground-Stop. There are storms ranging from maine to texas and there is too much air traffic in New York. We will have an update for you in 10 minutes."
Let me stop for a minute and explain our travel home flight. We were to leave Richmond, get to Laguardia, get our bags, get shuttled to JFK, check-in our bags, and get on the plane at 7pm.
10 minutes later the pilot comes on and says there is a 1 hour wait on further updates from NY, so we all wander back into the cool airport. We get to the counter and try to find a different flight in case this one doesn't go through. We find one at 7:30am the next day, which is fine cause there is no alternatives. It's hard to find flights for 3 people in that short of time. So, around 5:30 the pilot says he has his flight window and the people reboard, well, the plane taking off at 5:45, nope, we aint gonna make our connecting flight. So we try and get our bags off, no dice, pilot wants to leave. So, plane leaves and we get ourselves set for the next days flight. They put a comment with our luggage to send it to seattle. Delta hooks us up with a low rate hotel room at the DoubleTree (which is a Hilton). instead of $99 its $79 🙂
We get shuttled to the hotel, the manager there has the best service I have seen at a hotel. Gives us everything we need for the night except for different clothes. Hotel room is sweet. 1 king size bed and a queen size hide-a-bed. 2 tvs. Really, really nice suite.
ok, so the next day we get on the plane and get to seattle eventually. I had to call in "sick" to work monday, but oh well. We get to lost baggage and our bags aren't there. Surprise surprise. So, we have delta ship our bags from NY to here and we are now waiting on 2 of the bags to get here. there are 4 altogether.
Cliffs:
1 Went to virginia for wedding
2 Wedding went fine
3 Weather Sucks there
4 Ticket date error by a month
5 12 hours dealing with airport gets us 20 bucks off hotel room
6 flew out day late
7 called in "sick" to work
8 luggage got sent to NY
9 luggage enroute here
10 profit?
