well i have a dynatron copper base cooler. it comes with a 70x70x10 5800 rpm fan that is well somewhat noisy. so i put a nearly whisper quiet 4200 rpm 70x70x15 generic fan on it (has less blades though).

i go from 55C at load on a barton 2500+ to 66C load.

and from 45C idle to 55C idle. crazy!

granted my case is an ultra slim line microatx (aopen a340a) and well has no case fans. ambient at load is 47C!

whoa 47 ambient? thats extremely hot. my oc'ed tbird doesn't even reach that high on LOAD.. put some case fans. if can't, leave the side panel open since u have a quiet fan now.

hts the lack of case fans. your cpu cooler is using hot air to cool, bad.

duno what your cpu is, but i get by with a 12cfm 60mm stealth vantec on my 2000+xp palomino.

i have 5 case fans.

Ok, big problem for alot of people is they think faster RPM is better. When its not RPM you should be concerned about. Its Db (Decibal) and CFM(Cubic feet per minute). And basically to get the best configuration go with 3 120mm fans (Bigger is better and quieter)
http://www.pcmods.com/details.asp?ProdID=596
This fan is perfect with only 32db and 84 CFM. Ideal cooling at a great price.
Now you can go smaller fans but honestly, pushing this much air with such low noise is perfect for your ears and your system. Also I am developing an AGP intake fan via a PCI slot. Just the opposite of an exhaust slot fan.
Also you will need a CPU duct, so you can bring the outside air directly onto the heatsink.

So with these 3 fans - 1 front intake - 1 back intake to heatsink- 1 top exhaust and also you may want to replace the power supply fan with a better quieter fan. Its up to you.
But I guarantee that you wont have to worry about a thing with this configuration.
Any questions let me know and make sure to check the computer pic on the above link for the badong.

unfortunately an intake isnt gonna work.

i remeasured and its actually 51C idle 62C load.

oh well.

i cant do an intake since i dont have full height slots. oh well its stable enough, no big deal.
