Just turn on ESPN2 right now and watch this Sophomore run over Maryland! My nephew actually played with him in High School, but he wasn't all that good from what he told me.

28-0 in the 2nd quarter now. Time to get some more Hesiman numbers.

You mean 150 yards right? Not 150 years?

He had insane numbers like this in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia too, so it's not just a weak Maryland D.

Maryland blows. They only beat my horrible 109th ranked MTSU Blue Raiders 24-10 last week. If you are in a power conference and only beat us by 14 you suck. :)

Holy crap, WVU's hardest opponent this year is going to be Louisville. Talk about a cake schedule. Slaton should end up with 2500 yards this year with the teams they're playing.

If 2 other teams, in addition to WVU, finish undefeated WVU will be left out of the Championship game.

The University of North Texas has for the last 3 seasons enjoyed RB perfomances like this. You get a good back in some of these smaller conferences and they can absolutely wreck havoc. It is also interesting to see if these big fish in small ponds end up making it to the NFL. They don't get the weekly national attention and how can you tell if they would perform at the same level at a premium school?

I think this running back had a point to prove. Maryland offered this guy a scholarship and then retracted it.
Maryland coach is kicking himself in the ass right about now

here is another quote from the article:

"He scored twice in the opening quarter of his first career action against Maryland, the school that offered him a scholarship, then withdrew it because Friedgen felt he already had enough running backs."

WVU has such an easy schedule this year. They should easily be unbeaten. I was watching this game last night at work. Go WVU! Slaton is an amazing, young, RB

Actually, they do play Mississippi State in a few weeks. However, MSU sucks huge this year, and as a Bulldog fan, fully expect WVU to kill them.

Bowl Recap
Steve Slaton rushed for a record 204 yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 11 Mountaineers to a 38-35 victory over eighth-ranked Georgia, which couldn't take advantage of the home-field edge in the first Sugar Bowl ever played outside of New Orleans.

There you go, SEC champs, supposedly best running defense, Slaton as a freshmen breaks the Sugar record for rushing yards on them in a Georgia home-game environment. They went up on Georgia big time early on if you remember the game, Georgia had to claw their way to a 3-point loss. I know the Big East is a weak conference, but this teams success if relatively new, and the coach has only been there for 4 years, but already has a respectable record with some good bowl games.

2002 West Virginia 9-4 Continental Tire
2003 West Virginia 8-5 Gator Bowl
2004 West Virginia 8-4 Gator Bowl
2005 West Virginia 11-1 Sugar Bowl

So yeah, they still have some people to convince, but I think if they dismantle Louisville like they did with Maryland a lot of people will take this team seriously. No way they get a National Championship shot if they go undefeated with 2 other undefeated teams, but that's too be expected.

While I won't disagree that they dismantled UGA, the dawgs weren't even close to the best rush defense team in the SEC or the country.
