I am freaking amazed at the temps i'm getting now! I'll explain a little first. I bought an old generic case a couple years ago. Typical fan setup 120 front, 120 back, and an 80mm side fan. I think the only reason I bought it was because it said aluminum on it...thats it...right on the front in raised letters.

I also bought a thermalright HR-03 GPU cooler after reading tom's hardware review of it. So down to business. Everything went pretty smooth. Installed PS upside down due to fan. CD-rom went in easy. HD went in the cage fine. I am not real big on cable management as you can see in the pic. As long as its not hitting a fan blade its good enough for me. Only issue was the 2x2 connector by the CPU. Mine was too short...luckily I had anticipated this and had one on hand. I didn't have any issue with the dvi cables being plugged into the g card. On to the comparison.


CPU temps in core1-core-2 format ALA TAT (100% loaded for 10 mins using TAT). All ANTEC 900 Fans on Medium speed setting.

IDLE OLD 33-30C LOAD 55-54

IDLE Antec 900 25-23 LOAD 47-46

CRAZY eh. That's about an AVG 8 degree drop for cpu temps.

Now onto the thermalright HR-03 GPU cooler.

Stock cooler X1900XT cooler temps taken using ATItool

Stock idle was 50C and after 10 minutes of scanning for artifacts is was 90c.
HR-03 Idle is 33C and after 10 mins of scanning it is 61C.

Isn't that nuts!?

The only thing that kinda bummed me out was I couldn't use the 120mm sidefan with the HR-03 installed. Oh well I am very happy with these 2 products!

I am too tired to do any testing, but if I do i'll post up results.

gotta agree with BB on that....flip the CPU cooler (rotate 180 deg) because right now it's sucking air from an exhaust fan 😛

I have a simliar setup (except E6600 / P5W DH) in an Antec 900. My temp drop was 6C - 54C max (measured with TAT) under load at 3.6GHz.

What's the problem with the side fan? I also have the HR-03 cooler and had NO trouble with it. The side fan did touch the Scythe Infinity HSF. I was worried about rattle so I grinded the plastic a little on the side fan in one corner.

Here is a short review showing how cable management can be done in the case. I know you say that's not a big deal for you, but thought you might be interested. (BTW, compared to some others I've seen, your cable management looks pretty good!) It is a bit hard to see in the picture how many HDs you have (just 1?) and where HDs they are mounted. The wiring does gets uglier with more HDs unless you do a little modding.

Are there more than one top fans? 😛

Do the zalman rotation too then you mgith even be able to get the gpu fan off becuase zalman+ top fan will be assisting teh HR03 alot

Yeah i actually saw your build before I bought the case. That's some nice work! I dunno about the fan. I'm using the antec tri-cool fans. I couldn't get the case closed because the center of the fan would be hitting the peak of the heat pipes on the HR-03. I could probably fit a thin fan in there.

Yeah I only have one HD. It's a 74 G HD with 38G of crap on it after installing FSX. That's the most I've ever had on a HD 🙂 I might pick up a 150G Raptor if I start making backups of my DVDs.
 
lol, sorry about that. bad eye sight last night after fragging people too much. case looks good. it needs to be painted black inside though 😛
 
I just looked and mine is closer than I thought but definitely not touching. Maybe different video cards have the CPU mounting location slightly higher or lower than others. I have a Sapphire 1900xtx BTW.
