Pretty amazing. After spending three days trapped in a mine, the rescue workers just learned that all of them are alive.

Being clostrophobic, there's no way I would ever become a miner.:)

MSNBC is reporting that all nine are alive.

Given the current position they are in I would say extraction is appropriate for describing the operationespecially since extracation is not a real word.
