I just saw on the news tonight that the LA government is planning on massive budget cuts for the state school system. The deficit will approach 1 BILLION DOLLARS this year, and in typical LA fashion, education will be the first to suffer. They were not clear but it looks as if 2 grad programs and 1 undergraduate program will be completely cut at ULL.

Further, if this is correct, they were claiming that ALL assistant professors would be dropped!

I don't know if anyone cares, but this really sucks because I have a lot of friends who are probably about to become unemployed.

Sucks. Our education is nearly the worst in the nation already, and we've been fighting to get pay raises for the teachers who need it realllllllllllly bad. I just can't wait till Blanco's term is up. Worst governor evAr

Well, they said that her attempts to slash the deficit was recently supported by the Republicans, and now the Democrats (her party) are rallying against her. Specifically the Black Caucus,

I'm also wondering if these supposed cuts in the State Police may leave my older brother without a job. There is just going to be a mass exodus out of Louisiana if this continues.
 
Haven't you people learned yet that proper education is a privilege reserved for the rich or those with the means to home school?

Government schools are used to indoctrinate the youth to be obedient workers with just enough intelligence to be able to read simple instructions and follow orders from their overlords.
