Wow... This sucks..... My summer internship will cost me ~ $10,000 :(

But hopefully it will lead to a job offer.... Hope this is a good decision.

Summer In-House Counsel internship the summer before my last semester in law school. Its unpaid, roughly 16 hours per week. Unfortunately, the kicker is that not only do i have to quit my paying job at another firm (possible COI), but i have to pay ~ $8,000 for the summer semester since I'm recieving 3 credits for the "class". I might as well pick up another 3-6 credits since I have to pay anyway. (Here we pay per semester, not per credit hour).

 😀

BTW, I know a company/firm has hired me for the summer, the school has just yet to let me know with whom.

That officially sucks.

I interned at both IBM and HP, and both paid pretty well, slightly under what entry level positions would pay, with IBM also paying for housing.

Best of luck to you!

my brother interned for stites harbison, they paid him and all the lawyers would take him out to gourmet lunches just so they can write it off.

he got a job with them too, pending his bar exam.....

Engineering FTW!

Summer internship as undergraduate:
Full benefits (healthcare, dental care, they even paid for OTC drugs)
All moving expenses ($.45/mile, $35/day, free lodging)
Housing reimbursement ($500/month)
Good pay (over $20/hr ~ $42,000/yr)
Tuition reimbursement for senior year (~$10,000)

I'm perplexed as to why people don't pay interns anything, especially in law.

yeah, aphex, i hear you. i wanna do an internship this summer but finaid doesn't pay summer so i don't think i can pay it.oh well, i'll just get a PT job and work banana hours.

Don't bother with the credits. Spend the money on a real semester. $8000 for 3 credits is NOT worth it, and the internship will be on your resume no matter what.
