Do they annoy anyone else? Nothing seems to be worse, well, other than the sequel to the Fast and the Furious commercials (wow, you can tell they are targeting some intelligent people).

Haha, energizers last quite a bit longer the last time I checked unless you're on Duracell Ultra. (note, they change battery formulas once in a while to make 'em last longer)

Actually, the best batteries (non-rechargables) are those ones made for "businesses only". They last like twice as long, there was a big thread about this a while back. Basically, you're getting ripped off by the battery companies by batteries that only last half as long as they could.
