Wow! The White Stripes. Good stuff! How long have they been right under my nose without me noticing?

I'm embarrassed to say it, but I've just "discovered" them for myself. (I?ve been sampling MP3s for the past 3 hours, and they?re all pretty damn good! I even found their cover of Dolly Parton?s ?Jolene.? Rawk! Well, The White Stripes' version of that song does not convey the emotion of that song as well as Dolly, but it's still good.)

How long have they been around? Where are they from? How often do they come to the US?

Man, it sucks that I haven?t known about all their great music until, well, tonight.

It seems that they have 4 full-length albums out so far. Now I?m going to have to buy them.

Any other fans here?

I have. I've heard it on the radio, but didn't know who it was. I was actually looking for a different song. I don't know a single lyric, but it has a very distinctive riff. I heard it at work (where we something like a 400 CD changer because the crew prefers it to Muzak or DMX) and someone told me that it was probably either The Strokes or The White Stripes. After listening to some of both, I'm inclined to think it's a White Stripes song that I'm looking for.

Considering they are just 2 people(brother and sister), their sound is quite impressive. They kinda look freaky though, like they haven't seen the light of day. :Q 🙂
