Parhelia is not DX9 compliant. R300 and NV30 will be.Originally posted by: glen
But, won't the NV30 and NV35 kick ass?
Isn't a GeForce 4 already faster in Quake 3?
If both NV30 and Parhelia are DX 9 compliant, where is the advantage?
Isn't a Geforce 4 already faster than what in Q3??Originally posted by: glen

Sure they will. I think it's safe to assume that NV30 is faster than GF4Originally posted by: glen

faster than what? Parhelia? There has been no official benchmarks yet. However, it has been said that prerelease-Parhelia with early beta-drivers is about 20-30% faster than GF4 Ti4600Isn't a GeForce 4 already faster in Quake 3?
Parhelia is not 100% DX9 compliant. But that's not really a problem, since games that require DX9 won't be released in a long time. There will propably be new version of Parhelia released early next year that will be fully DX9 compliant (it will also have other improvements as well)If both NV30 and Parhelia are DX 9 compliant, where is the advantage?

They are specifically addressing this issue, so I assume it will have as good or better 2D.unless Nvidia pulls some 2D quality out of their asses for the NV30.
On what do you base that assumption? It has already been more or less confirmed that NV30 will not have 256bit memory-bus, so it will lose to Parhelia in memory-bandwidth. It will not be able to touch Parhelia in 2D image-quality, it will most likely not have triplehead. As to drivers... Matroxes drivers are top-notch. And their Linux-support is superior to that of NVIDIA's.Originally posted by: glen
I think the new NVida cards, NV30, are coming out at the same time as Parhelia and will have more features, be faster, cheaper, and have more stable drivers.

I've seen benchmarks.
Might be. GF4 gets 200FPS in Q3, whereas Parhelia only gets 195FPS. Parhelia runs Unreal Tournament 2003 "surprisingly fast" (according to Mark Rein) using triplehead (that's three monitors), Doom 3 will propably be demonstrated in E3 usning Parhelia with three monitors.GeForce 4 is faster in games like Quake 3.
Parhelia is faster in newer games.
