Refugee's have become a big business. We spent $1 billion last year on bringing them in. The two biggest players of nine major contractors in the biz are Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services. Once they get the initial wave settled, they then get reimbursed to bring in the relatives of that wave. BTW that $1 billion number does not include TANF, food stamps, housing, utility bills, health care, SSI and all the rest, that's just the price tag associated with the resettlement contractors.
Additionally, the definition of refugee has been bastardized beyond any reasonable form of recognition. Those that wish to come here know that if they say a few key words, that they will be given passage and that a bureaucratically overwhelmed system will essentially swallow them up without a second thought.
How does this benefit the nation? What exactly drives the need for more dependent people? It's truly nice to be humanitarian. It's noble and righteous. But is there a limit? When jobs are scarce and money is tight and budgets are out of control, is there a point where enough is enough? When does practicality supersede emotion?
