If anyone knows where they can be bought and are in stock, can you post here please?
I tried google and IE searches and just newegg came up.

Thanks guys. I did the Auto-Notify for newegg stock. Will get an email when they are in.

Check out eBay on the ARCTIC COOLING CPU FAN FREEZER, we got one yesterday. Unbelievably enormous, but quiet.

According to my local store, the first batch are all defective - the thermal tapes for the backplate are not sticky enough and miswiring of the fan connector. They're waiting for the 2nd shipment.

Is this basically the same as rev.2 just with the RAM 'cooler' on the back of the card? Or is it even more quiet than the rev.2?

Need a couple of answers.....

Does the NV5 Revision 3 come with heatsink pads on the cooler, or do you have to
put them on yourself (as oppposed to the picture)

The reason I ask, I picked up a NV5 Revision 3 from Frozencpu, and it will NOT fit
on the BFG 7800GTX, as the heatsink to right edge of the card does not allow the cooler to make contact. Thermal pads were included, but their were only 8 small ones, and those were needed for the memory chips on the card.

By the way, this is NOT a product I would recommend, the thermal pads stickiness is HORRIBLE, and as I stated, it will not fit on the BFG 7800GTX because of the heatsink to the right of the GPU. So much for Revision 3.

Can someone confirm the thermal pads for the memory chips as being already attached to the Silencer, or if it has to be done manually, as there is not enough thermal pads for the 8 memory chips, as well as to remove the Heatsink from the right of the GPU and attach thermal pads there.....

Thank you !

No idea why these coolers are more than twice the price of the AC rev1. I bought that for $14 and slapped it on a refurb R350 core 9800Pro that supposedly was locking up in all games. I ran ATItool on it, and it was still running the memory test right past 426+ when I canceled it. I prefer stability over speed, running 4 rigs 24/7, so it was cool to see that card pulling like a thoroughbred with this supposedly outdated cooler mounted on the card. Bahh, to each their own .... you guys have disposable income anyways.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the eVGA GTX and the BFG GTX, but it fits on the eVGA. The little heatsink to the right of the core does appear to push on the NV Silencer a bit, but contact is being made with the core. You do not need to remove that little heat sink, and you don't need to put thermal pads there, since the cooler isn't meant to cool that part of the card.

My results clearly show that the Silencer is working...

KO stock

idle:
GPU1 50C
GPU2 51C

load
GPU1 79C
GPU2 83C

NV5 Silencer

idle:
GPU1 45C
GPU2 43C

load
GPU1 69C
GPU2 64C

As far as the stickiness of the rear RAM spreader pads... Yeah, it's ridiculous... I used the spreader from the cooler that came with the KO instead.

Here are some pics of one of my cards:

The thermal pads for the memory are not attached to the cooler... When you get it, they are in the right place on the cooler, but the come right off. Note, the ones for the front are different that the "sticky" ones for the back, on a GTX you will only need four of these.

Mine had the main gpu pad and fit just fine. BTW> although at first it appears the heatsink for the rear memory doesn't work properly, once heated up though, it sticks like glue. i thought the same as most of you, until i tried removing it after a couple of days...wouldn't budge.

I'll be first in line this time around to get one for my 7800GT.
http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=40

Doesn't the 7800GT have all 8 RAM modules on the front of the card as opposed to the 4 on the front and 4 on the back? If so, you don't need to wait until they fix the sticky pads for the back because you don't need the rear heat spreader... The wires are easily flipped the right way if you get one that has them hooked up wrong.

svc still has the NV5 Rev. 3 in stock - that's where I got mine.

Zalman makes great stuff, and I bet their GPU cooler doesn't suffer from the manufacturing issues that have plagued the AC NV5. However, many people (myself included) like the design of a GPU cooler that blows the hot air out of the case than one that just mixes up the hot air. There is someone on AT who tested both and had much better results with the the Silencer. There was a thread a few weeks ago.

pookguy -

The NV silencer series are a better cooler than the Zalman IMO, they exhaust hot air, cool the memory, are self sustained (no wire clutter) and they are just as quiet as the Zalman. I really see no reason whatsoever for getting the Zalman.

Yeah, I could just get the existing R3 cooler right now, but for me at least, I can't find it in Canada, which is where I will be buying. So it looks like I am just going to have to wait til it's re-released and in stock in the great white north.

I installed two NV5's the other day on my SLI BFG 7800 GT's and am very impressed so far. Luckily the GT's dont have memory on the rear of the card, so i didnt have to use the backplate, but the thermal tape was quite sticky. Overall they dropped my case temps a good 8C, my CPU dropped 4C and MB around 4-5C. The fan is pretty much silent, which is a godsend over the stock BFG fan. I have both clocked at 472/1100 right now, and they max out around 52C! Highly recommend this cooler if installed properly.

Agree, I'd wait for a revision of the Zalman VF-700.
