I live near Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. I'm used to hearing/seeing planes all the time. I love to watch them come down over HWY 59 as they make thier approach. We really don't get to hear them very much unless they have been put into a holding pattern due to heavy traffic, but I do see them every evening in lines waiting to land.

I just went outside to take the dog on her early morning business trip when all of a sudden I heard a jet go over my house. It was quite loud. I looked but could see nothing. I said to myself that that was a pretty close one. Then I realised the airport is still closed. That was a MILITARY JET. I' not used to hearing or seeing them around here. It is totally silent and dark outside again, and it is wierd. Can anyone say, Reality Check?

It's amazing the little things you get used to, and take for granted.

I live 5 minutes from DFW International Airport. Heard two fighters fly over 2 hours ago. No doubt they came from the reserve base in Fort Worth...

The Naval Air Station as well as an Airforce base are within 15 mins of my house. It is quiet, but every so often I hear the roar of a jet plain, and I look up and see a fighter. I know that with those men and women in the skies, I am as safe as i can possibly be. I would like to say thanks to all the people in uniform who put their lives on the line every day so that we can live safe in our country.

No go forth and KICK ASS!

well i live in the PNW and there's a bunch of military bases around here so i don't get freaked out by fighter jets. but it is kind of weird to see cops *everywhere*... like stationed at the ferry terminal and on the streets. haven't seen any military forces, but that would be weird too. it IS kind of like a reality check... this happens all the time elsewhere, it's a way of life for others, and you realize what they're missing.

The evening of the attack was very eerie. There was not a cloud in the sky here in middle tennessee. I looked up and the sky was completely empty. No contrails or anything what so ever. I think the emotions of the day were winding down at that point and reality was sinking in.
