My Tbird temps were a bit high and I had a hard time overclocking my 1.1Ghz Tbird so I though I would reapply some thermal paste, and reconnect the L1 bridges at the same time. So I took the case off and trying to use a larger screwdriver then needed to remove the HSF clip, I was putting alot of pressure on the HSF. I got a little stream of sweat running down the side of my face as I thought I would crack the die any minute. I then decided to return at a later time with some appropriate tools. I then plugged everything back together and turned the power switch on.
Three seconds later.....BEEP...BEEP...BEEP........
OMG!! Did I just crush my Tbird?? Panting heavily I searched the manual of my Asus A7V to find the cause of the beeps, no luck! I then started panicing about what was I supposed to do now? I have a programming project due next Monday that's sitting on my HD! Will my TBird be replaced, or will I have to dish out another few hundred dollars?!
Just as my heart rate jumped to 160 beats a minute I saw the 2 sticks of ram sitting on my desk that I had taken out to make some room for the screwdriver. What a relief, I knew at that instance that the BEEP's were caused by the lack of ram!
I put the ram in and did a little prayer before turning on the power switch and a few minutes later my pulse was back to a healty 75 beats/minute.
