Take a look at this game. I am not sure of the ETA, but it looks BEAUTIFUL!

The guns in the games:
Deadly!

Stalker

Man alive....that was the first game at which I have ever looked at all the screenies....most amazing thing I have ever seen. Take a look at the Engine page, something called "X-Ray" designed for DX 8. Here are portions of the interview with the developer.

"We plan to implement a Zone of 20 square kilometers, consisting of approximately 15 levels. The player can go and explore the Zone freely, when crossing the border of levels, he will see a 'loading' screen and will find himself on another level shortly. "

"Yes, all this will be implemented. First off, with money you can buy virtually everything in the Zone, up to a car. Having a car, you will also need to take care of fuel and protective equipment for it. If you find a vehicle in the Zone and it still functions, you can use it. As far physics is concerned, you will find a lot of interactive objects - breakable glass, lamps, throwable and pushable objects and so on. Different surfaces will provide different piercing capabilities. "

Informative interview

He said ETA is 9-12 months from december, with a demo hopefully first half of 2003.

The game designers did a good job of portraying what Russia looks like, intentional or not.

It is intentional....they are making a scenario based off another Chernobyl accident in 2006.

Very Max Payne-ish, both in look and in music/atmosphere<-at least according to the website.

There are two games that I will buy a clone of, as long as it's close:

Max Payne

and

DeusEx.

I know that Part II of both games "is coming." Annnnnd, they've BEEN coming for about two years now. :p

Anyway; this game looks cool. :)

Damn straight. Those were the two games that restored my faith in action games. Ever since, I've been looking for the next one.

kool one, but this still bother me :
"when crossing the border of levels, he will see a 'loading' screen and will find himself on another level shortly"

is there any game without showing this loading screen. so the player can run back and forth levels (till maximum achieved level).
it will be a great big jump - if there's any
it will be a realistic gaming universe.

For freedom without loading, then you'll just need 5Gb RAM and the same amount on Video Card ... :)

This games seems will need a P5 5GHz 2Gb RAM and a GeForce FX3 with 512DDR minimum ... :( not on my TNT2 32Mb system ... :(

It looks nice, except.... I hate to nitpick, but all the weapon models are reversed.... ie: ejection ports and selector switch on the AKM are on the wrong side.... Same with the M4 on 2nd page, ejection port and forward assist are on the wrong side... I find it annoying that they would put all that work into such detailed modeling, but get that wrong...

i do not know that much about guns and all....but could that be because they are modeling guns manufactured/made in Eastern Europe and such? (The company is based in Russia IIRC)

Well, maybe there will be a patch to change some of those things, if they don't cover them on the inicial release ...

That looks flat-out awesome. Not Doom 3 awesome, but it's good to see someone besides id can make a killer-looking game.

Here's another interview/preview. Release is indeed slated for Q403.

*drool* (and drooling over Doom3 too, and I'd be drooling over Duke Nukem Forever and Team Fortress 2 too, if I env knew what they looked like anymore, and if they're even ever coming out...but that's another story I suppose)

and Chaotic42, yeah, i'm anxiously drooling over LO:MAC too. I had seen that clip earlier, and it just blew me away. And the screenshots of that game look phenomenal. I can't wait to see that game in all its glory.

Ok, maybe someone can help me out here - I downloaded one of the movies from stalker-game.com, and Windows Media Player says it can't find a usable decompressor. I'm tired of getting this error and want to fix it - anyone know where I can get a patch or a codec or something to make that work?

Unfortunately, no.... Weapons for the most part are designed for right handed people.... You don't want the empty casings ejecting into the supporting had or the face.... For some reason all the weapons models are reveresed... Its hard to describe, but imagine a picture of a weapon on slide film that was turned over, and you were looking at everthing reversed.... thats what you have...

Maybe you need the Divx Codec

Hope that helps!

Stalker definitely is looking up to be an awesome game, a potential successor to HL, but check out the screens for this one as well.... I especially love the water effects:).

Anyone remember Trespasser? It was a game set in the Jurassic Park universe. I remember getting the demo from a pc gamer, it CHUGGED on my system at the time. But it was supposed to have EXCELLENT physics and great graphics.
