Wow, text rendering in Firefox in Mint 18.3 at 4K UHD res on AMD is really poor.

Man, I never realized how much I appreciate Windows 10's font-rendering and ClearType features.

Installed Mint 18.3 on my 2200G, it defaults to a 4K UHD desktop to match my monitor, but ... the font rendering is pretty awful.

Any way to fix this? Is the problem, the default fonts, or the rendering, or my video driver? (Out-of-box default drive for AMD GPU, I guess.)

Driver Manager doesn't show any proprietary video drivers available, and I don't think AMD has Vega iGPU drivers for Linux available yet.

Still no HDMI audio, either.

In what way are they bad? I think I do recall some issues with FF but it was with the page not scrolling all at the same time. Like there would be a line near the bottom where part of it is not scrolling at the same rate as the rest if you scroll fast. I don't really recall what I had to do to fix it though... I do know I had to disable hardware acceleration (that seems to solve a lot of problems) but think there was something else too...

Linux also lacks a lot of the standard fonts, so for example Times, Ariel, etc so some web pages will look slightly different because it falls back to another font. I find most of the default fonts in Linux look almost the same. They really need to get more variety in there imo. But it's probably some stupid IP law restriction.
