It's like if you got black out drunk and were stumbling around town like a jackass and wandered down some ally you shouldn't and got mugged because you were an easy target. It's not you're "fault" you got mugged but your reduced faculties put you in a situation where you were more vulnerable to opportunists.

the mugging isnt your fault, but your fault for letting such an easy opportunity arise. At that point of drinking, you create of your own doing, an unsafe environment.
like blindly crossing the street, you may not get hit, but you create a more likely opportunity for you to get potentially hit.

though we can use anologies all day long. Point is, people need to have responsibility for their practices of safety. Common sense for women should be don't go to parties alone, don't go off with strangers alone, don't drink too much, don't dress so slutty that provokes attention from every 10yr-90yr old man, don't keep more valuables than necessary.....etc,etc.

You are all missing the point. It is all the governments fault for not protecting US! There is very little personal accountability anymore it is always somebody else that is to blame. The lady with 8 kids comes to mind, because she thinks we should all pay for her kids. NOT!

There are bad people in the world and sometimes shit happens. So it is not always your fault. But do what you can to look after your own ass because you cannot trust everyone. And if you do, bad things will probably happen sooner or later.
