Wow... some people take games WAY too seriously

So I beat some dude's ass over and over and over again in COD4. I guess he's used to being the top dog or something cause he kept getting more and more agitated. I didn't have my mic on, so he was only riling himself up after each match.

So he's getting more and more pissed, then proceeds to send me a message on PSN... "GET THE F--K OUT!'

Seriously, why do people take this shit so seriously? Its a damn game.

I just had a similar run in with some prick on the PC version. He got all butt-hurt over me using a P90, just moaning and complaining over it. Cry me a river or go take a midol.

JK!

Nice save

Unfortunately enough, some people don't have lives. (It's the truth!)

I wasn't talking about aphex though, I'm talking about people who complain because they're getting their ass whupped

I played 1v1 with some tool who kept bragging that he had sponsorships and played professionally. And I kept kicking his ass. It was funny listening to him whine about literally every gun I used. Even using the shotgun was noobish to him.

It happens in all games, doesn't matter what type, if there is the possibility of having a winner and a loser eventually you'll play against someone who is just that childish.

We've got a minimum drinking and smoking age, methinks we need to institute a minimum online playing age to boot, maybe with an "unless supervised by an adult" tag to it as I knew a guy who's 9 year old used to play America's Army with us and he was very good and never complained.

Its just competition.

Competition breeds intense feelings and brings adrenaline into the mix... unfortunately many people cannot control their feelings.

This thread makes me glad I play COD4 on the PC.

Where everyone is quite cordial, I'm sure.

I've never experienced anything remotely close to this.

Then you're in the minority.

Really? You play COD4 on pc, and see things like this? I'm at 125 hours on multiplayer.

heh

when i take a game too seriously (very rarely), i don't mouth (IM off?) at my competition, it's more me cursing and getting mad at for my mistakes...i usually get like this only when i have something else on my mind, like other obligations or pressures i may currently be dealing with and inevitably have to face (work, drama, life in general, etc), so it's kind of like turning to video games (currently SSF2THD) to escape it temporarily instead of eating comfort food or drinking alcohol...

Losing is less fun than winning. So some people get ticked off when you detract from their fun, i never have this problem because i rarely lose 🙂

I had a similar experience playing Halo last week.

My friend and I were in a game, and one of our teammates quit before the game started so it was 4 or 3.

The teams were:
Us: Major (me), Major, Sergeant (friend)
Them: Brigadier, Major, Captain, Lieutenant

We were playing on Snowbound, and we played it like we play every game on Snowbound - on the surface, killing at medium range with BRs and carbines. We don't hide in the cave like a bunch of pussies, and more importantly we don't attempt to go into the cave when our enemies are hiding like a bunch of pussies. We'll throw grenades to flush them out and shoot them from the cave openings, but that's it. We force them to face us on the surface like men.

We were dominating pretty well until our score hit the mid 30s, then they got smart and started running in a pack of 4 at all times. We weren't sticking together, so it was pretty easy for them to pick us off one by one that way. We regrouped in one of the bases, not intending to stay there, but they surrounded us. Then they started coming in after us with no coordination at all - one, two at a time. We kept killing them, and they just kept coming. I died at one point and started killing them from the outside while the other two guys on my team were inside. They were split up and focused on my teammates, so it was easy. We ended up winning 50-42. Their brigadier and I both had 20 kills and 15 deaths. His teammates were all negative, my teammates were +2 and +1.

We were happy, and we moved on. In the middle of our next game, my friend and I both got invites from the brigadier and the major from the other team. Then he got a voice message from the brigadier and I got one from the major (the major was -7, the other two guys were -4). After we finished our game we listened to the messages. They were full of profanity, called us pussies, blamed their teammates for the loss (remember, my message was from the worst player in that game), demanded a 2v2 rematch. I messaged my guy back and told him (politely) that it wasn't his teammate's fault. He sent me another message, again full of profanity, called me us pussies again, etc, etc. I messaged him back and told him (politely) to stop getting so worked up over a game.

So much for not taking it too seriously. 😛

I've taken great amusement in watching some similar situations unfold, then somebody cries to a server admin, and then banning takes place... of course, when teams are shuffled and the crybaby ends up on the same team as the person who pissed them off and starts TKing like crazy, kicking is expected at the least.

Yeah well I don't send them voice messages calling them pussies if they do it. 😛 It's something that annoys me about that map, but I don't get worked up about it.

I get that all the time in RB2. I never have my mic on as I really have nothing to say to people, but they get really pissed when they get beat. I really hate the players who have their friend screaming into the mic while they play as if to distract me or something. I get abig laugh when I beat them regardless. Then you get the losers who curse you out and then disconnect. It just goes with being online and I just ignore it.
