265Kilos is pretty respectable.

584 lbs?

265 x 2.2 = 583

also, would british pounds be different from american pounds?

mb he meant 265 stones. ;)

265 kilograms = 584.2249948 pounds

265Kilos would put him up for Strong Man compeitions and professional weight lifting crud, because thats well over 550lbs.

That said, I was able to bench 245 for my final max after starting at 165 3 months prior. I weigh 215 at a mere 5 foot 7, making me a fat azz.

500 pounds is impressive, but the pros are well into the 700-900 lb lifts now.

We have a few guys at my local gym that do 500+ lb lifts.

This guy is a giant. So I wouldn't be too surprised.

Boxers are build differently than powerlifters. My friend boxes and he used to be able to bench 320 lbs. Now after training for a couple of years, his chest is much flatter, but he's able to punch much faster and harder. Having too much bulk slows a boxer down and uses up his energy. Instead of having a lot of bulky pec muscles, they'd rather be stringy.

First off, a 265lbs bench press is supposed to be intimidating, ESPECIALLY when the guys weighs 271lbs? So the guy is weak AND smokes crack?

Secondly, I wouldn't pay $1 to see that fvcking loser (Tyson) fight! Tyson couldn't get a fight in the boxing world so he was looking to fight in K-1. Then his manager said, "hey, I don't want my fighter being kicked in the legs." Well too fvcking bad! You don't want to be kicked in the legs? Go back to boxing. And I guess that is where Tyson is today, fighting a big loser. MAYBE he can beat this guy. The heavyweight boxing division sure hasn't been the same without Tyson. But I guess those days will NEVER be back, as Tyson is DEFINITELY not the Tyson of old. :(

Whoever fights tyson should just bring a gun to the ring and kill him. The world would be a better place without mike tyson.

Wow, some people just need to keep their mouths closed so they don't embarrass themselves

This thread demonstrates that to a tee!

The power of a punch comes from your legs and core, not your arms or chest so it really doesn't matter whether he can bench his weight or not. At 6'6" and 270+ I bet he can pack a wallop.

Then why was he touting his bench press as if it was something impressive then? At the time I stopped lifting weights in high school I was 6'2 170lbs and could bench 260. For him to be his size and bragging about what little weight he could lift is just embarrassing. Then throw in the hypnotist angle and it gets even moreso.

If Tyson knocks him out, he should pull a pocket watch out and swing it back and forth over the Irish dude as if to hypnotize him.

That would be great! Survival of the fittest. That would be a perfect magazine for the story to go in. Now what is with the interview being at the hospital? Am I going to be visiting the guy I fought? ;)

I'm sure he mis-spoke or meant something else, perhaps kilograms. You're pretty foolish if you believe that a heavyweight boxing on PPV can only bench 265 pounds.
Oh, and I think he's going to dominate Tyson by a large amount. Tyson hasn't got a chance in this match. (plus, isn't his ear up high enough that Tyson can't reach?)

Are you selling that crack that you're smoking? Tyson will be like a rabid put bull on steroids, and just shoot in and knock this guy's head off. I predict a first round KO.

And he probably didn't mis-speak. Boxers are not powerlifters, they don't bench much.

Seriously man, please don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about. He meant 265kg? That's a 584lb bench press. I GUARANTEE he isn't benching 584lbs!

<snipped me being dead wrong>

Yup, I guess you were right about that. He's done.

It's really a shame, since he's still a physical specimen. It's not like he has a lack of muscle on his body, but his conditioning is long gone. He has no stamina anymore because his work ethic is non-existent and he doesn't keep up with the sport or train like a boxer. He's just trying to get by on his old skills and his old conditioning. I heard that he's just stepping into the ring to collect a paycheck, and that's it. He only trains for a few weeks before a big fight, and spends the rest of his time partying it up. Real, devoted fighters train for months, all year long. He lost the desire. I guess time has proven that his career died with his old trainer. He fell to wasted potential after that.

nice prediction Quesy...

Tyson still trains as well as anyone, and he gets in great shape....with him it's all mental...he panicks now when his punches don't knock people out, and completely forgets/ignores what his corner tells him to do...
